summer catch-up

so far, it's a great summer. andrew, asa and luke all finished their regular season ball a week or so ago. andrew made the 11 year old allstar team. asa and luke were both wanted but asa didn't want to play and I exercised my executive powers and didn't let Luke play. He was getting tire of the practices, etc. there were some pretty dissapointed coaches when they found out those two Abadies weren't up for allstars. just where do they get their baseball talent? There must be a great, great, great grandfather somewhere who was a baseball star!

today we picked blueberries at my cousin's; enjoyed chocolate milk shakes from the local food stand; we've eaten our share of snoballs so far this summer, too. i blanched and put up 4 gallon size bags of yellow squash thanks to some friends who are sharing their crop.

we are headed to the movie tomorrow, a museum on friday and then andrew has two scrimmage games this weekend so it will be a busy one.

life is good!

Birds

There once was a nest of baby birds in the tree above our swing.

One fell out and couldn't fly.

So we put Big Daddy up in the tractor to return the baby bird to its nest.

Edited to report that the bird and one ofits siblings just fell out and the mama bird attacked Andrew in the back of the head! I think that mama is trying to teach them to fly however this mama doesn't think they are ready.

(it's never a dull moment around here)

What's a scrapbooker to do when she can't scrapbook?

She finds other ways to be creative! I made these two pillows. The green one with a bird on a limb with leaves, took me a while b/c I hand embroidered it all which you can't see.

I made the red poppy one in only about 30 minutes. woohoo! I copied off of a pillow I saw on etsy that was $50!!! and this one cost me about $10.

The floral yellow ones I ordered off of esty.com and they were only $10 a piece and very well made. They came all the way from Indonesia!

Here's to being creative!
